SLIDING WINDOWS
Product Description
Windows Tech sliding windows open horizontally within the frame, giving you adjustable ventilation without a panel extending over a bench, into a room, or across an outdoor path. This makes them practical for kitchens, bedrooms, living areas, bathrooms, apartments, and other spaces where clearance is limited.
Each window is made to confirm measurements using the Aluplast IDEAL 4000 profile system. Double glazed and triple glazed configurations are available, along with Low E, acoustic, privacy, tinted, laminated, and toughened glass options.

What Makes This Sliding Window Different
Frame Colours and Finishes for Sliding Windows
Large glass areas make the frame finish an important part of the overall design. You can match your sliding windows with existing doors, exterior cladding, roofing, interior finishes, or other uPVC windows throughout the property.
Classic Colours
Tropical provides a crisp white appearance similar to RAL 9016. Creme offers a softer neutral finish similar to RAL 9001. Both work well with light facades and traditional interior palettes.
Timber Inspired Finishes
Sheffield Oak Concrete creates a cooler timber effect for contemporary homes. Turner Oak Malt, Turner Oak Toffee, and Turner Oak Walnut add warmer character without the repainting and maintenance required by traditional timber frames.
Aludec Metallic Finishes
Jet Black and Anthracite Grey suit bold modern facades. DB703, Basalt Grey, Umbra Grey, and Window Grey provide more understated metallic tones. Traffic White and Surfmist offer lighter alternatives.
How Sliding Windows Work

Sliding windows use horizontal movement to provide ventilation while keeping the opening compact and easy to manage.
Horizontal Opening
The operating section moves along the track rather than swinging into the room or projecting outside. This is useful behind kitchen benches, beside paths, near balconies, and in rooms with furniture close to the window.
Adjustable Ventilation
You control the amount of airflow by choosing how far to open the window. The available openable area depends on the window dimensions and selected configuration.
Track and Flyscreen Layout
Tracks, rollers, seals, and flyscreens are planned together so the window remains practical to open, close, and clean. Keeping dirt and grit out of the track helps maintain smooth movement over time.
Benefits of Our Sliding Windows
No Projecting Panel
The window stays within its frame, leaving room around benches, furniture, balconies, pathways, and outdoor areas.
Adjustable Airflow
Open the window to the width that suits the room and current weather rather than relying on one fixed ventilation position.
Broad Glass Area
Sliding windows provide generous natural light and a clean appearance without adding complex opening hardware across the visible glass.
Insulated Glazing Options
Double glazing, triple glazing, and Low E glass can be selected to improve thermal comfort and manage solar heat gain.
Lower Maintenance Frames
uPVC resists rot, rust, and corrosion and does not require the regular repainting associated with timber frames.
Custom Replacement Sizing
Each window can be made for the existing opening, making it suitable for replacing ageing sliding windows in homes, apartments, and renovation projects.

FAQs

Are sliding windows suitable for Melbourne homes?
Yes. Sliding windows suit kitchens, bedrooms, living areas, bathrooms, apartments, townhouses, and home renovations across Melbourne. Their horizontal opening does not project into the room or outside, which makes them practical where benches, furniture, balconies, or paths limit available space.
Can sliding windows be double glazed or triple glazed?
Yes. Windows Tech manufactures double glazed sliding windows and compatible triple glazed configurations using the Aluplast IDEAL 4000 profile system. The right glazing depends on the window dimensions, room orientation, thermal requirements, noise exposure, and glass thickness needed for the project.
Are uPVC sliding windows more energy efficient than aluminium sliding windows?
uPVC frames generally reduce thermal bridging more effectively than standard aluminium frames because uPVC transfers less heat. Energy efficiency also depends on the glass, weather seals, U value, SHGC, window size, orientation, and installation quality. Thermally broken aluminium may perform differently from older standard aluminium windows.
Can double glazed sliding windows reduce outside noise?
Yes. Double glazing and acoustic laminate can help reduce traffic, trains, aircraft, schools, and neighbourhood noise. The final sound reduction depends on the glass makeup, air gap, frame sealing, window dimensions, installation, and surrounding wall construction.
Which glass is best for sliding windows?
Clear glass suits rooms where natural light and an open view matter most. Low E glass can improve thermal insulation and solar control, while acoustic laminate may suit noisy locations. Obscure glass, acid etched glass, tinted glass, and white translucent laminate provide privacy for bathrooms, laundries, and overlooked windows.
Can old aluminium sliding windows be replaced with uPVC sliding windows?
Yes, in many cases. Windows Tech measures the opening, checks the existing frame and surrounding structure, and confirms access before manufacturing the replacement window. Custom sizing is especially useful where old aluminium frames have unusual dimensions, poor sealing, corrosion, or worn tracks.
Can sliding windows include flyscreens?
Yes. Flyscreens can be included with suitable sliding window configurations. The screen layout depends on the operating section, window dimensions, track arrangement, and required openable area.
Are sliding windows suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes. Sliding kitchen windows work well behind sinks and benches because they do not swing over the work area. Bathroom sliding windows suit smaller openings and can be combined with privacy glass and flyscreens for ventilation, daylight, and privacy.
